An interesting fact that I picked up from a recent social media seminar: apparently, people are using the microblogging site Twitter as the newest way to keep up on events.  The news media is no longer the fastest way to get on the scene of a breaking story.

Really, the first information to expose something happening is now likely to be the guy with a cell-phone camera several cars away from the accident, shooting, or what-have-you, and who posts his photos to his social media site.
